Entrance Permits

Permits

Projects on private property that require a DuPage County permit may also need an Entrance permit, depending on the road and road right-of-way involved.

If the road and road right-of-way are maintained by the York Township Highway Department, the project falls within our jurisdiction and an Entrance permit will be needed before a DuPage County Permit can be obtained.

If the road and road right-of-way are maintained by an adjoining city or village, a homeowner’s association, or a private road, the project is not within the York Township Highway Department’s jurisdiction. In those cases, the Highway Department cannot issue an Entrance Permit or waiver, because we are not authorized to approve or deny access to roads outside our jurisdiction.

If the permit calls for a room addition, dumpster, new garage, in-ground pool, etc., we will issue a permit with an $800.00 fee for a construction bond. The bond is fully refundable, upon completion, provided no damage is found on township right-of-way. Should there be any damage to the sidewalk, apron, ditch, curb, or road that is not corrected, we will make repairs and deduct the cost from the bond.

Driveway lights and sprinkler systems cannot be installed in the parkway. They should be installed within the confines of your property. Brick mailboxes are a safety hazard and will not be permitted.

Unauthorized work may be removed and charges for the removal assessed to the homeowner.
